The Next Phase
Well, the primaries would appear to be over and we now have two candidates. The speeches have been made though some might argue that Ms. Clinton did not concede, nevertheless, the race for president is over for her. Where do we go from here? Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama made their respective speeches and in a few days other issues will dominate. Our call to faith dictates that we are not simply citizens of this country but citizens of the Kingdom of God. Let us be up to that task!

But there are no Presbyterian candidates! (Wesley Clark at least “attended” a Presbyterian Church.) Maybe being Christian is enough? Will be interesting to focus on only two now and give them a little more attenion on how their beliefs and mores are reflected in their stands. (Have there been any Presbyterian candidates since Wilson? Norman Mattoon Thomas was an ordained Presbyterian minister – maybe the only? Musings.)

While cleaning my file of I-don’t-know-where-to-file items, I came across a writing bt Geirge W. Schille, the title of his article is “Spirit of Man”.
And is a follows:
The debate concerning divine creation vs. evolution could be resolved if a person kept in mind the divine creation deals with the spiritual being while evolution deals with the physical being.
Modern man embodies both the spiritual and the physical being. To argue that mankind was created by one or the other is an exercise in futility. In reality, man is both. The key to understanding how mankind was created to keep the spiritual being separate from the physical.
There is ample evidence that creatures that physically resembled modern man roamed this earth millons of years before recorded history. Scientists have uncovered evidence that there were thousands of different species of creatures evolving from the basic chemical materials. When the species that physically resembled modern man evolved and developed the capacity to think, reason and remember, then God gave them his spirit and creaated man (and woman).
The feature that differentiates man from animals (creatures) that physically resemble man is the spirit that God gave man. Each of us is free to think as we please about religion. We should all do just that.
Other Thoughts:
Some of the Christians of that period in time, believed that the return of Christ was eminent. We are alive in the year 2008, and we very much need Christ in our world; but there is also scripture that says “But before the end comes, the Gospel must be preached to all people”. As a kid I believed Heaven was up there, we have ventured millions of miles into space and have not recognized heaven if it is there. The June issue of Astronomy Magazine has an article advising us that our Milky Way Galaxy, will collide with the Andromeda Galazy in approximately two (2) billion years, it will dramatically transform the night sky, but Astronomers are not sure into what, Believable? Why not when weconsider we can mail a package to Mars and have it make a soft landing at exactly th planned instant. We know the earth is billions of years old, seems something must be created before evolution can take place. We also know God’s creation, the universe, ois expanding at a continually increasing rate of speed while the tiny earth remains in size virtually the same. How much more is our Creator going to let us know about his creation?
I read the Bible, however, I cerainly am not a Bible student.
I read the Astronomy Magazine, however, I don’ understand 9/10s of what I read.
